プレミア・ナパ・バレーについて

ナパで毎年二月の最終土曜日に開催される、業者のみ対象にしたバレル・オークション。

このオークションの為だけに特別に醸造された新種（フューチャーと呼ばれてる）を樽から

試飲（バレル・テイスティング）し、ロット単位でオークションにかけられる。

ロット単位は、５ケース・１０ケース・２０ケース。

落札後は、熟成を待って750ml、あるいは1.5Lボトルに瓶詰めされ、

ナンバリングされたラベルで落札者のもとへ送られる、という。

まさに、落札者のみ入手できる自分だけのプレミア・ワインをゲットできるイベント。

毎年、約200ロットの新種がオークションにかけられ

200万ドル＝約2億円の収益があるとのこと。

業者のみ対象と言われていますが、実際はスポンサー（大金持ち）がいて、

bit資格をもつ業者に入札させるケースも多いようですよ。

＜理解のためのメモ＞

これは、日本酒でいうと全国新種鑑評会みたいなもの、と考えても良いかもしれない。

「たとえ市販酒と出品酒が違うものであっても、鑑評会はちょうどクルマの世界でいえばF1レースのようなもので、ある程度まではその蔵の技術のレベルを物語る指標となる。」と言われるように、

このイベントのために、造り手がコストも手間も惜しまずまさにベスト・オブ・ベストを造っているのだから。
